MPS Coal Mill

The MPS mill is a medium-speed, vertical coal mill designed for efficient pulverization in thermal power plants and industrial combustion systems. This proven design combines grinding, drying, conveying, and classification into a single compact system, delivering a reliable coal preparation solution for power generation.

    Coal Mill Structure Diagram

The MPS mill is a widely applied coal mill in power plant systems. It delivers stable operation, consistent coal fineness, and optimized energy consumption across various coal types. Compared to traditional pulverizer designs, the MPS mill offers greater adaptability, lower operating resistance, and enhanced system reliability.

    Typical Applications

MPS mills are widely used as coal mills in power plant systems, particularly in thermal power plants, industrial boilers, and cement plants that require a stable pulverized coal supply.

    Working Principle

The MPS mill operates as a highly integrated coal grinding mill, combining mechanical grinding with pneumatic conveying and dynamic separation.

The process begins as raw coal is fed through the central inlet onto the rotating grinding table. Driven by the main motor and reducer, the table rotates at a controlled speed, while three grinding rollers—arranged at 120-degree intervals—apply hydraulic pressure to the coal bed. The grinding rollers press the coal against the rotating table, grinding it under stable and evenly distributed loading force.

Simultaneously, hot primary air enters the mill housing and flows upward through the nozzle ring. This airflow not only dries the coal but also transports the pulverized particles toward the separator. The optimized nozzle ring converts static pressure into dynamic airflow, ensuring stable lifting velocity and uniform material distribution.

Following this, in the separator, the system separates qualified fine coal particles and conveys them out of the mill, while returning oversized particles to the grinding table for further pulverization.

To ensure continuous operation and protect the mill, a slag removal system discharges non-grindable materials such as metal fragments and stone, thereby safeguarding internal components and ensuring long-term operational stability.

    Advantages

    High Grinding Efficiency
The optimized roller diameter, table speed, and hydraulic loading system enable efficient coal bed grinding with reduced specific power consumption. Compared with conventional coal pulverizer mill designs, MPS mills achieve higher throughput under the same operating conditions.
    Wide Coal Adaptability
MPS mills are suitable for a broad range of coal types, including high-moisture and low-rank coals. Typical applicable coal parameters include high moisture content, wide volatile matter range, and varying grindability indexes.
    Optimized Nozzle Ring and Separator
The advanced nozzle ring and dynamic separator design reduce internal circulation, lower pressure loss, and improve coal powder fineness control.
    Stable and Reliable Operation
Robust structural design, optimized wear-resistant materials, and a proven hydraulic loading system enhance operational reliability and extend maintenance intervals. Wear parts such as rollers and liners are designed for convenient inspection and replacement, reducing maintenance time and improving plant availability.
